The Sporades are a chain of islands along the east coast of Greece, northeast of the island of Euboea, in the Aegean Sea. It consists of 24 islands, of which four are permanently inhabited: Alonnisos, Skiathos, Skopelos and Skyros. The Sporades have a rich wildlife with many bird species and they are as well one of the prime breeding areas of the Mediterranean Monk Seal (an endangered species).
